Suvanto’s daughter

lyrics

Vielä kuuluu kellon šoitto
Šyvih vesih hauvatun.
Vielä kuuluu kellon šoitto
Šyvih vesih upponuon.
Mighty snows awakened a giant,
He rose to his full height.
His voice was the roar of waterfalls,
His footprints turned into valleys,
He rushed to the east, seething with rage!
The rattling of the bell still can be heard,
Buried in the dark water depths.
The wind blew out the candles,
Then a blast broke in,
Turning solemn chants
Into screams of fear.
It washed away humility
From the saints` faces.
Now all of them are buried
in Ladoga's water grave.
Those who tried to escape
Got hit and tortured
By the mighty Paws
Of seething waves.
Giant open mouth
Of primordial abyss
Swallowed all the evidence
Of their self-confidence.
Clouds of smoke
from extinct hearths
Covered the night sky
With a bluish veil.
The screams were replaced
By choking and wheezing
Rumble of waves
And wreckage everywhere.
Rolling over granite boulders,
Drowning down the meadows,
The giant with a grin
Is still paving the way
For Suvanto's daughter,
Taipaleenjoki,
Who will henceforth rule this land.
Niin kuin koira, mi puissallutti pois tympiet kirvut
Vesi pyyhki pois tyhjänpäiväset ihmismielen.
Pois — tympiet kirvut.
Pois — ihmismielen.
Saleimatta ta armuo antamatta
Kuolema šeuruau uutta elämyä
